Stirling Maynard recognises that we have a responsibility and an ability to contribute towards the conservation and protection of the environment and help achieve a sustainable society.  We have resolved to improve our own environmental practices and to promote awareness of sustainability amongst staff, clients and suppliers.  We will seek to achieve continual improvement in how we minimise our own environmental impacts through sustainable operations and actions.

A  Communication

  • Communicate our policy and its goals to staff, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise awareness of our collective environmental responsibilities.

B  Environmental

  • Comply with current environmental legislation.
  • Reduce waste created, where possible reuse and recycle materials and equipment before responsible disposal, and use recycled and recyclable materials.
  • Avoid or limit, whenever practical, the use of environmentally damaging substances, materials and processes.
  • Reduce our carbon footprint through prudent use of energy, use of energy efficient technologies and, where possible, by switching to suppliers who generate using renewable alternatives.
  • Reduce the environmental impact of our activities, through improved operating procedures, and through the specification, design, and management of projects.
  • Consider and assess our operational procedures, taking action to seek to continuously improve environmental practice.

C  Social

  • Actively exercise a non-discriminatory policy of employment.
  • Take all steps to employ, train and promote on the basis of experience, ability and qualification without regard for race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, national origin, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age or disability.
  • Not condone any form of harassment, whether engaged in by employees or by outside third parties.
  • Develop the skills of our staff through continual training to help them achieve their full potential.

D  Economic

  • Continue to seek opportunities to contribute to the improvement of local infrastructure.
  • Encourage stability through training and internal promotion of staff.
  • Through the implementation of our operating procedures seek to maximise economic and value engineering solutions for Clients, which minimise environmental impact and waste.
  • Seek to employ local companies to supply goods and services where possible, to promote economic efficiency.
  • Include innovation where practicable to minimise carbon footprint and environmental impacts.
  • Encourage Clients and stakeholders to consider sustainability issues when developing projects.
